Office Party

It’s that time of year. It’s getting colder outside, lights are going up, Christmas music is beginning to play in stores, and holiday work parties are about to be in full swing. To make sure you’re all ready, I’ve picked some of my favorite trends this year.

It’s very important to pay attention to the dress code for each party. Nothing is more embarrassing than showing up in a pair of jeans, when everyone else is in an evening gown. If you’re unsure about the dress code, always remember it’s better to be more dressed up than more dressed down than everyone else.

Office parties can range from casual to fancy. I’ve attended Christmas parties with my dad’s company before when the dress code was dressy casual; I normally stuck with a black or red dress. Very Cliché, I know!  The dress code for this party could be labeled as just “casual.”There was a range of different outfits I saw at the party. Some people wore jeans with a blouse and some people went for a nice circle skirt.

There were no specific rules on how to dress for this party. I work in retail so I figured this wouldn’t be an all out "gowns and gloves" type of party. I decided on a simple black wrap skirt with zipper details, a festive colored button down shirt, a metallic gold bag to give the outfit a pop of color, some tights to stay warm as well as ankle socks, a pair of heels, and I topped the outfit off with a fur vest. I thought the colors from the button down shirt were perfect Christmas colors, and made this outfit casual enough for the type of party.

I’ve gotten inspiration from the runways to the streets and rounded up a few of my favorite looks. If you’re looking to try something different this year, try a jumpsuit. The jumpsuit has replaced the usual business work suit. If you go for a black long sleeve one,  add a dark red lip and some heels to finish off the look. The little white dress took over the runways this season. I’m sure you’ll be seeing lots of these during the holiday time. Although white is a very light color that will look great for spring, the white color works perfect for the winter as well.
One of my favorites this year are the metallic dresses - golds, silvers, bronzes, and all the colors in between! These are eye-catching, different than what everyone else will be wearing, and something fun to try. They are styled great with a leather jacket or some fur. Metallic dresses are perfect for New Year’s Eve! I added some of the metallic element in my outfit with the bag!

What do you plan on wearing to your holiday office party? Are you going to try any new trends this year?

  1. Hi Katie! I like how your personality comes through in your writing style. I like the selection of the outfit as well as the images that accompany the article. Great job!

  2. The pinstripe blazer looks soooo good with the oversized fur clutch. The fur makes the boy blazer become so chic and cute instantly.

  3. good Store variations could appear a little confusing initially, but Play Store Apps function though application streaming is presently nice.
