New Year's Resolutions

Fur: Forever 21
Shirt: Gap
Pants: Zara
Boots: Unisa Gillean
Bag: Target

This week I’ve been trying to get things done before the New Year begins. It seems like just yesterday it was January, I know everyone says it, but It’s amazing how fast time fly’s by. I spent the day running errands and doing a little shopping. Actually I was just running errands and I happened to drive past the mall and couldn’t resist going inside. “Just 10 minutes!” I told myself. Six hours later I’m walking out with 10 bags.

With the New Year approaching at rapid pace, I decided we should discuss a hot top that lingers on everyone’s mind during the end of December. “New Year’s Resolutions”! These can range from people wanting to be better with their money, getting to the gym more often, or being more kind to people. Some people can keep these resolutions, although, most forget about them a month into the New Year. The past few years I’ve made resolutions and completely forgotten about them by February or just given up on them.

My New Year’s resolution for 2014 was to be more social out in public. Sometime during the first week of January, my dad and I went to the hardware store to pick up some paint. I saw a kid I used to go to school with and decided now was the perfect time to carry out my resolution. “Hi” I said to the boy with a great big smile planted on my face. “Umm….. Hey?” It was obvious he didn’t remember me or have any idea of who I was. That resolution was so far gone out of my mind by the time we got back into the car; I never wanted to think about being social with people again.

I decided this year not to make a resolution. Why chose the beginning of the year to accomplish a goal? I think it’s important to set goals for yourself constantly, not just once a year. It can be something small, like smiling more or doing one small act of kindness a day. Some resolutions I’ve set for myself throughout the year include, being more positive during difficult situations, eating healthier when I travel (I have a habit of going crazy with junk food), and writing more. This normally works a lot better, and most importantly, I can avoid awkward interactions with people I used to go to school with.

Do you have any New Year’s Resolutions?

-Katie

  3. Your outfit is so amazing! It is important to have great resolutions. I have been able to do so many amazing things this year but for some reason around school and other places I seem to be nervous to share my accomplishments. This is something I should be able to tell other people because I earned it! So I really want to be more open about the things I love and do!
