Admirable in Antigua

Last Tuesday, we spent the day exploring Antigua. Around 9:00 a.m., we decided to find a cab to take us around the little island. We had no specific places in mind we wanted to visit or things we wanted to do. They say the best way to see an island and learn its history is from someone who lives there. That’s where our cab driver came into play. He took us to some of the most beautiful and historic places in Antigua.

On our little cab tour, we stopped at a popular site called Nelson’s Dockyard. This is a place where people park their sailboats and yachts. There’s a small area with restaurants and little shops you can explore. While walking around, we came across this area that looked like a building, but when you walked into it, you saw it was just an open area. From the outside it looked like a brick house with no roof, but upon further inspection after going inside, it looked more like someone’s back yard.

To be a hundred and ten percent honest, it was an extremely hot day and parts of this area were shaded, so this was a winner from the beginning. The sun was beating down on us during our entire walk, so breaking free from that, if only for a minute, was a welcome relief.

Since we didn’t know what we would be doing on this day, I decided I couldn’t go wrong with a nice casual dress. I had bought this dress last summer, but had never worn it.  I just could not find the right combination to pair with it, until now. I decided to go heavy on accessories since the actual dress was so plain. If you just scroll through my blog, you probably notice that I love hats. That was the first thing I added to this outfit. I also decided to tie (literally in a knot) a belt around the waist to make the dress less boxy. The different “three-color” sandals were added to mix it up a bit. Then finally, I put on these metallic silver and gold temporary tattoos.

This outfit was perfect for a sunny day of walking around and exploring. Seeing some of the famous places of Antigua was an opportunity I was very grateful to have. I think unplanned days can sometimes turn out to be better than the days that are planned out weeks in advance.

What’s your favorite accessory to pair with a plain/simple dress?

  1. You look like such a celebrity! Amazing - I love plain dresses and funking them up. Like you do with the flash tattoos! So envious by the way, we haven't gotten flash tattoos in South Africa yet and I am dying to have some! Haha

Love the hat and the sunnies too - very chic look. You are gorgeous as always I bet! :)

PS that photo of you sitting in the brick windowsill is stunning!! Such a good shot, it could be in Vogue x

    1. Haha, thank you! The flash tattoos have been around for a couple months, but I haven't been able to show them off with all the layers you have to wear here in the winter. I'm sure they will make their way down there soon, they're becoming more and more popular as the days go on! I really appreciate all your nice comments and compliments, it means so much to me!

    1. Thank you! It can sometimes be hard to find a good balance with accessories. The temporary tattoos are amazing, you're going to love them. I had so many people asking me about them for the short period I was wearing them for.
