There is no place in the world like New York City. My favorite attribute the city holds is the daily hustle and bustle of thousands and thousands of people trying to change the world. Every city has their trademark or something that would appear as an answer in “Scategories,” and New York’s trademark to me is the subway system. Although everyone holds their own opinions on this form of travel, many can agree its historically well-known and one of the best ways to get around the city.

As most of you know, I was in New York City a couple weeks ago for Fashion Week. The streets and subways were filled with well-dressed people buzzing about the latest trends and what we can expect to see in the coming months. I have spent a lot of time this past week writing about the activity backstage and on the runway, but I haven’t really touched on the personal style aspect yet. So, I’m excited to share with you guys one of my first outfits from Fashion Week!

My biggest concern when I was packing was staying warm enough. When I put together this outfit, I made sure it had layers upon layers, so I would be “cold-proof.” There’s truly no better place to experiment with your style and go all out than during NYFW. I really wanted to play with patterns and textures this night, so I decided to mix this blue thin coat over the multi-colored flare crop top from H&M. I have really been into the skirt over pants trend, so I decided to do the unthinkable, and match a brown skirt with black skinny jeans. I really like the sides of this skirt, which kind of flared out and rippled. The night of the show, I actually wore black mules, but it was so cold I decided to change into sneakers before we took this photo.

On a side note, I would like to thank http://fashamorphosis.blogspot.com/ for the nomination of the Liebster Award. I really appreciate the nomination, although I’m supposed to answer the questions and pass it on, I just haven’t found the time yet. So, I nominate all of my lovely followers to answer the questions in her post, and pass on the award!

What was your favorite street style trend you saw this NYFW?

-Katie

  2. I love the colors and pieces used here. Layering is a true challenge because it is brutal outside, but then you will eventually end up indoor and need to un-layer yourself easily!

    1. Thanks Raquel! That is truly the hardest part about winter. You can spend so much time finding the perfect coat and winter accessories to go with your outfit, and then you only end up wearing them for a couple minutes!

    1. Thank you! The subway was kind of a last minute shooting choice, but it turned out great. Plus, nothing says New York more than the subway!

  8. Wait, is this a personal style blog or a high fashion magazine editorial?!? These photos are absolutely stunning- good job on rocking the skirt over pants. I could never even dream of pulling that off! And don't worry about the Liebster- I loved answering the questions, but it was really time consuming, so I understand how you wouldn't be able to go through with it :)

  10. Each post is sucking me in! I'd love an opinion post on how you thought the street style is in New York. Not just the style that was captured at the fashion shows, but the style in general in the streets. That is one of the biggest things I've always wanted to visit NY for. It just seems like a city that is filled with polar opposite people but all drawn by that one common element: NY. Aaaaanyway, really love your coat!
