A Day At The Gardens

If I were to picture in my mind the perfect place in the whole entire world to sit down and read a book, I would choose this place. While milling around Toronto for a few hours, we came across the Allan Gardens Conservatory. What caught our eye right away was the beautiful and architecturally unique glass building. We walked in with no expectations, and were absolutely blown away. Beautiful, bold, bright flowers and plants literally covered every part of the building, all the way up to the ceiling. It was hard not to get starry eyed walking through the different garden areas.

If I were to have afternoon tea with a queen or walk around the gardens with a first lady, I would choose an outfit similar to this, something feminine and light with dark accent pieces. I purposely mixed the white crop top and teal skirt with the black bag and black shoes to keep some familiarity of my usual color palette. I threw in the camel coat to help balance out the colors and accent the teal skirt. I kept the accessories light, because I really wanted the bold skirt to be the staple piece here. I prefer playing with bold colors in spring/summer and neutrals in fall/winter.

I once read a great quote in the book Women in Clothes. In an interview, Maya Fuhr, was quoted saying “My dad always said ‘if the colors go together in a flower, then they work together in an outfit’ I agree.” We couldn’t have stumbled upon these gardens at a more appropriate time. With spring here and the warm weather fast approaching, I am actively looking for bright and bold color combinations. I’m constantly on the lookout for inspiration, whether it come from someone on the street, or flowers in a garden. Either way, I left feeling inspired.

Do you have a favorite color for spring?

  8. I love that skirt, it's so elegant and a great statement colour. What a great quote about the flowers, I'll have to remember that one.

I don't have one particular colour that I love for spring but it always excites me that I can bring come brights back into my wardrobe at this time of year. I'm like you and tend to go for more muted colours throughout the winter, so when it comes to spring I always find it fun to experiment with colour once again. =D

    1. Thank you! I very rarely wear nail polish because of conflicts with modeling jobs. Most designers/brands want bare nails when you arrive on set or at a show. I really do appreciate the suggestion though!

  15. Now, iOS 10 takes all those things and pushes them forward. The design is getting cleaner and more consistent. The architecture is becoming more open and convenient. The wiring, much smarter and even more secure. It's taken time — and pain — getting the physics, extensibility, and intelligence to this point. Now Apple gets to — and has to — pay it all off. to get more information go to cydianerd.
