Toronto, Ontario

If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve probably noticed that I’ve had the same quote in my biography since before dinosaurs even existed. I look at this quote so often, that I could probably recite it in my sleep: “I’m in love with cities I’ve never been too, and people I’ve never met.” Not trying to sound like a ninth grade English teacher, but people will have various opinions on what that quote means. To me, I think of it as the feeling you get before you embark on an adventure. You’re not sure who you’re going to meet, what you’re going to see, or what you’re going to experience, but you’re in love with the thought of traveling and trying new things.

This past weekend I embarked on a trip to Toronto. I have never been to this city, but I had heard great things about it. We planned to spend a few days there, exploring the area and covering Toronto Fashion Week for The Aisle of Style and the publication, NNY Living Magazine (I’m a freelance contributor). We ended up staying in the most elegant hotel with the most stunning view. Above you can see it during the day time, but I wish I had photos of it at night. It was absolutely breath-taking.

We spent a lot of time at the World Mastercard Fashion Week venue in David Pecaut Square. I would say about 70 percent of our time was spent running back and forth in the venue from the studios to the runways, while nibbling on granola bars in between shows. Above I’ve included some of my favorite looks from the show, as well as a picture of a fur protester during The Wild North show. I thought this was interesting to include, because using real fur often becomes a controversial topic at fashion weeks. Many people were talking about the “fur protesting lady” for the rest of the day.

In the little free time that we had, we mostly spent it walking around the main streets, shopping and eating. On Friday morning, we stopped in a grocery store called “Loblaws”. Picture your local grocery store and add multiple cafes, bakeries, meat sections, and about two extra floors and you have Loblaws. This was by far the biggest “grocery” store I have ever seen. We couldn’t resist taking a photo of all the great pastries they had on display. We finished the morning off by taking a stroll down some side streets. We came across a lot of cool houses with different architectural designs. We snapped some photos as shown above.

All in all, it was a quick, but great trip. I’d love to go back to Toronto again and spend some more time exploring different areas. In the short time that I spent there, I had an absolute blast and learned so much. I hope you guys enjoyed the pictures and this long story (If you actually read this far, haha!)

    1. Exactly! People were talking about how awesome what she did was. There didn't seem to be a lot of people who actually liked real fur there, which was nice.
